When the door opens ...

Jillian Dellit

Digital technologies and education are both recognised as essential to our future as a 'new economy', a 'knowledge society' and a 'global player'. Our community, including students and teachers, have access to knowledge, tools and resources that were only dimly imagined even 30 years ago. Yet after more than a decade of investment, most developed countries report slow adoption of digital technologies in their education sector, especially in schooling and in teacher education, while uptake in the community continues to outstrip projection.

Such a contradiction is unsustainable and the community shows no sign of reverting. What it will take for the education sector to have a learning future?
